The Moving Mountains Foundation is a Vermont Public Benefit Corporation

Moving Mountains for Parkinson's is a fundraiser hosted by the Moving Mountains Foundation.   Proceeds will be used to support local programs for Parkinsonians and their care partners and for clinical research into the cause and cure for this devastating disease.  Moving Mountains also raises Parkinson’s awareness through the Moving Mountains Vertical Challenge.
Sugarbush Resort and Wachusett Mountain will host Moving Mountains for Parkinson’s on March 1 and 16, 2008.  Based at the two ski resorts, the events will include a silent auction and a vertical foot challenge where skiers will raise money through pledges for the number of vertical feet skied.

This site describes the history of the event, the 2008 program, and provides you with the opportunity to give your time and treasure to the effort to eliminate the disease. We need skier teams, individual and corporate sponsorships for this years' events.

WHAT IS PARKINSON’S? 100_px_layered_mountains_new_flat

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive degenerative neurological disorder of the brain caused by the death of cells that produce dopamine, a chemical that transmits brain signals involved in motor control.  Symptoms vary from person to person but may include tremors, rigidity, stiffness, slowness of movement, instability and poor balance.  Medications and several surgical procedures help manage the symptoms but do not stop the progression of the illness.  Although there currently is not a cure, many researchers believe a cure is possible within 5-10 years, if adequate research funding is available.
